About the Academy

At Spangler Brazilian Jiu Jitsu you can expect to learn the fundamentals of self defense and sports jiu jitsu.  These two philosophies work hand in hand with each other to help develop a well rounded understanding of this amazing martial art.  Self defense comes in a variety of instruction from punch block defense to controlling your attacker.

Sports Jiu Jitsu is fun for everybody!!  We teach our students, not only the individual techniques, but the transition between these techniques.  The concept of transition is extremely important if a student wishes to progress in their BJJ journey.  The ability to move from one position to another  allows students to flow with each other and therefore build the muscle memory necessary to use this martial art with efficiency.

The Spangler Philosophy is simple! Effective instruction operates at a white belt mentality and incorporates repetition and basics to build a successful student. This style of instruction further elevates a students self esteem and confidence.

We offer classes for the beginner, intermediate and advanced student.    For the brand new student, our introductory classes are designed to teach the basics of jiu jitsu.  Our intermediate and advanced classes build upon the introductory classes to help each student develop their own style.   Drilling is central to our belief system. We  believe in building students from the feet up. We build a foundation of basics which will become the strength from which all other techniques and movements will operate from.

The easiest way to get  started is to sign up for our introductory program.

Hi- I am interested in joining and noticed that you have 6 A.M. classes weekly. Are these classes for beginners or for more experienced clients?
Additionally I was wondering what your upfront and monthly cost are for membership for one adult.
